Problem Statement
FDC Graphic Films gives priority to safety and their employees. Operating heavy equipment involves having two operators (who are able to handle heavy equipment) to move the vinyl rolls. This not only leaves room for safety concerns, but also requires the need of multiple employees.
The raw vinyl rolls FDC acquires from their vendors are large and heavy. The average size and weight is approximately 15” in Diameter x 55in and 300lbs respectively.
Normally, it takes two operators of considerable strength and size to handle and load these vinyl rolls into their processing machines.
Solution
Our team, at Nevatio Engineering, addressed this problem by developing a Vinyl Roll Lift Assist. This tool allows a single operator to handle and maneuver large vinyl rolls (regardless of size and strength) about the processing facility with ease.
This solution mitigates any safety concerns of having employees carry heavy objects around the processing facility. Similarly, it provides FDC a solution to maximize their employee resources and contribute to lowering costs in the long run.
Measurable Results
With the lift assist system introduced into the workflow, any operator regardless of size and strength can handle 300lbs vinyl rolls around the warehouse floor.
FDC no longer needs to use two operators for material handling. Operators are also relieved of the need to use considerable strength when working with such rolls. This also creates a safer working environment.
