Emil's background includes over 15 years of engineering experience, which he brings to bear in a number of various environments and applications. He draws on his wide range of experiences, ranging from academic laboratories to tech startups, to solve difficult issues swiftly and effectively.

Get to know Emil

We interviewed Emil J Geiger, Principal Engineer, to learn more about his expertise and direction as it relates to Nevatio's mission and objective.

What's your role?

As the Principal Engineer, Emil is a jack of all trades, while focusing on both, engineering and business development.

At Nevatio I have two primary roles. For engineering, I leverage my advanced training to tackle really hard problems that don't have a textbook answer. My experience using advanced analysis techniques allows Nevatio to go the extra mile when a project is extra challenging. The rest of my time is spent working on business development and finding new clients that can benefit from Nevatio's expertise.

Additionally, Emil is constantly searching for methods to assist our customers in determining where to invest their money so that it has the most impact on their bottom line.

That might imply automating a manual procedure, troubleshooting, an inefficient process, or speeding up bottlenecks.

What are your credentials & past experience?

Emil received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and went on to get his MS/Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. He obtained his professional mechanical engineering license in Nevada in 2014.

Emil studied engineering at LSU while working in a machine shop. That job was as valuable as anything he learned in class. He genuinely believes that working in a machine shop gave him a unique perspective, especially as an engineer with advanced degrees.

He moved west for graduate school, but never lost his love of designing and constructing engineering projects. When he relocated to Reno to teach at the university, he took his enthusiasm into the classroom by adding a year-long capstone project to the Senior Capstone.

Emil likes to joke that he is a vertically integrated Engineer having experience ranging from machine shop to PhD level research.

What do you like about working at Nevatio?

We are a company that believes in empowering people to take responsibility for their own accomplishments. At Nevatio, from the engineers to the draftsmen to the support staff, employees are empowered to do their work in the way that makes the most sense for them and the business.

We think we're able to establish a good rapport with our consumers because of this mentality. We don't see ourselves as just another company working for a paycheck; rather, we see ourselves as part of a collaboration with our customers.

What Values Drive You?

Emil is adamant in his belief that everyone has a vital function to perform in any organization.

When approaching a new project, I think both the technician on the floor and management in the front office have important information to offer and learn from. For myself, I value working hard and always putting my best work out.
